UAE-based businessman BR Shetty is determined to go ahead with the multilingual film, 'The Mahabharata', despite novelist MT Vasudevan Nair moving court. “I hope MT will take a favourable stand,” a report quoted him as saying.
A court in Kozhikode recently restrained the director VA Shrikumar Menon from using MT’s Randamoozham (The Second Turn) after the novelist approached it asking for his screenplay back, questioning the team’s interest and sincerity in the project.
Reportedly, MT signed a contract with the filmmaker four years ago. The agreement was to complete the film within three years. An official press release issued in April 2017 stated: “ The Mahabharata will be produced in two parts and is scheduled to go on the floors by September 2018 and for a release in early 2020.”
According to the release, Shetty is investing Rs 1000 crore in the project which features
Mohanlal as Bheema.
Shiva Rajkumar,
Vikram Prabhu,
Aishwarya Rai and Manju Warrier were supposed to be a part of the cast.
Shrikumar Menon recently met MT at his home and apologised for the delay, but sources say no compromise was reached.
